Abstract

Accessibility to basic healthcare is an important aspect in terms of development towards building a healthy future. The MEDICAL ASSISTIVE ROBOT is a device used to provide correct medication at the correct time with the right dosage without the aid of a nurse. The robot also acts as a path-following robot, eliminating the need for the patient to reach the robot to take the pill; instead, the robot will reach the patient. It also consists of an object-detecting sensor (IR) to avoid obstacles in its path. The device uses an RFID card to link the patient's ID, which holds all the patient's data such as identity and prescription. A specially designed wheel-like structure with numerous slots acts as pill storage space. An Arduino microcontroller is used to automate the whole process. Each slot of the pill storage is named to correspond to a particular tablet in terms of the rotating angle of the stepper motor. A suction pump is used to pick up the pill. The process starts when the user taps the RFID card. In this work, the device is designed and manufactured efficiently. While there are other devices that perform similar functions, such as the Automatic pill dispenser and All-time medication, this project deals with the integration of the doctor's prescription, which helps overcome manual errors. The objective of this project is to reduce avoidable medication errors in the absence of the doctor and also assist older people who may have poor memory.
