The proposed framework applies to all police stations nationwide and specifically addresses the subject of Crime Records Management. It is well known that Crime Prevention, Detection, and Conviction of criminals depend on a highly responsive backbone of Information Management. The efficiency of police work and the effectiveness with which it handles crime depend on the quality of information it can retrieve from its existing records and how quickly it can access it. It is proposed to integrate Information Management in Crime for the purpose of fast and efficient sharing of critical information across all Police Stations across the region. Initially, the system will be implemented across Cities and Towns and later be interlinked so that a Police investigator can access information across all records in the state, thereby aiding quick and effective closure of cases. The System would also be used to generate information for proactive and preventive measures for combating crime. The project has been designed to have the perspective of distributed architecture, with centralized storage of the database. The application for the storage of the data has been planned. Using the constructs of SQL server, and all the user interfaces have been designed using DOT Net technologies. The standards of security and data protective mechanism have been given a big choice for proper usage. The application works on various modules and their related reports, which are generated as per the applicable methodologies and standards that are put forward by the administrative staff.
